Wine Tourism: Italy and Malta joined by the “route of Mediterranean wines"

(29th March 2012) After the experience at Vinitaly, where nine “ProMed” wines were presented to producer and press, Irvos technicians and the Maltese producers associated with VitiMalta come home from Verona with a new goal: to promote a new wine route through the islands of Pantelleria, Linosa, Malta and Gozo that allows tourists (wine lovers and not) to discover the Mediterranean soul that unites these diverse territories.
According to the scientific responsible for the Promed project Lucio Monte «Vinitaly - was a very important opportunity to present the first results of our experimental activity. For the second year of work at the project, the research in vine management and wine production will be accompanied by intense activity of promotion and communication».

Among the objectives of the project ProMed, there is in fact the development and enhancement of eco-friendly sources of income. In this context, the value of vine and wine can make a real contribution to economic development in the rural areas included in the project, by enhancing the grape and its derivatives and by the seasonal adjustment of tourism that will be enriched by new routes.
During the next months the promotional activities will include seminars and tastings that allow to present to the residents, to the tourists and the press the results of the project. This is not all. All the partners will set the paths to be included within the "Mediterranean Wine Route", and they will present them to the press and tour operators during specific events that will be organized both in Sicily and Malta
